The Executive Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo has received commendation from members of the 7th Uyo Local Government Legislative Council for his outstanding performance in the discharge of his duties.

The Chairman, who received the lawmakers at the project site of the administrative block of the council which construction is ongoing, reiterated his promise to provide quality and impactful leadership in Uyo Local Government Area.

“Each time God gives us opportunity to come and work for our people, we should be able to leave lasting legacies for people to see and be encouraged. Under this administration, what is worth doing, is worth doing well and that is why we are undertaking this project so that our staff members can have a conducive working environment.”

Speaking further, Dr Udo noted that the successes of the Service Alone administration were as a result of the unwavering support from the people of Uyo and the harmonious working relationship between the Executive and the Legislature in Uyo local government.

Members of the legislative council, led by the Leader, Hon. Ubong Effiong, took turns to shower encomiums on the Chairman as they were taken on an official tour of the project.

Hon. Effiong, who said it behooves on the legislature to ensure that the Executive is on track so that democracy can be felt by the people within and outside the council, reaffirmed the support of the lawmakers to the Executive arm of the local government.

“I want to tell you that as the 7th Council, we are in support of this project, what you have done has never happened in the history of Uyo local government area that a leader would take up this massive project in just 2 months in office, so we say, go ahead.”

To show solidarity, the Deputy Leader, Hon. Mmenyeneabasi Micheal presented bags of cement as his contribution towards the completion of the project as other lawmakers promised to support the Chairman in his developmental strides.

It is the expectation of the Uyo Legislative Council that the project will be completed as quickly as it is practicable.
