Dickson meets Jonathan for the first time since Bayelsa election fall out

Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Jonathan, and his political protégé, Seriake Dickson, the governor of Bayelsa state met on Sunday, January 19.

The duo met at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Nguru, Aboh-Mbaise in Imo state during a thanksgiving service organised to Dr Kennedy Opara’s birthday celebration.

The relationship between the two political leaders went bad over the developments surrounding the last governorship election in Bayelsa state, which saw the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) losing to the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the first time since 1999.

Jonathan was accused of supporting the APC against his own party due to the alleged disagreement between him and Dickson. The former president has not, however, publicly reacted to the allegations while the PDP also said that there was no evidence to prove the allegations against him.
